Daniel Jackson Daniel joined the Army in February 2012 as an infantry soldier in the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers and was trained at Catterick Garrison. On completion of Phase 1 and 2 training, he joined the Second Battalion. On arrival at Battalion, Daniel joined 2 Platoon A Company, who were at the time posted to Cyprus for two years as the Theatre Reserve Battalion (TRB). During his time at Battalion, Daniel qualified as a light role recce soldier; skills which were put to good use during his recent deployment with Veterans for Wildlife. On disbandment of the Second Battalion, Daniel was transferred into the sister Battalion and continued to serve as a Fusilier in Y Company. During this time Daniel further qualified as a Warrior driver, took part in many overseas exercises and was awarded a silver medal in the prestigious Cambrian Patrol competition. In September 2016 Daniel transferred to his local Army Reserve regiment and has since continued to work for the Army. The overall transition from military to civilian life has been difficult for Daniel and is an ongoing process. As such, the opportunity to deploy with Veterans for Wildlife and aid in a cause that is extremely worthwhile has been exceptional in giving me a sense of purpose and direction to achieve a new career path.
