Veterans for Wildlife has been built on the commitment and hard work of volunteers from across the world; including our ‘permanent staff’, who freely give of their time and expertise simply to play their part for the most worthy of causes.

Chief among them is acclaimed Australian author Tony Park, who serves as Veterans for Wildlife’s Media Officer; advising and assisting the charity on all things PR-related. Tony has previously worked as a reporter, a press secretary, a PR consultant and a freelance writer. He also served as a Major in the Australian Army Reserve and deployed to Afghanistan in 2002. Tony and his wife  now divide their time between Sydney and South Africa, where they own a home on the border of the Kruger National Park.

It is this unique combination of experiences that has inspired Tony’s vast volume of work, set in the African bushveld. The Cull, his 14th such novel, has just launched and is part-inspired by the work of Veterans for Wildlife as well as those individuals and organisations that we have partnered with on the ground.

We encourage all Veterans for Wildlife supporters to get their hands on a copy of The Cull and, if you are Johannesburg-based, get down to Skoobs Theatre of Books in Monte Casino tonight (Wednesday 18 October 2017). Tony will be talking about the book from 19h00 onwards, drinks and snacks will be provided, there is no charge and all are welcome!
